WEEK TWO ROUND-UP: TRAINING TOOLS YOU WON’T FIND AT YOUR GYM

Week two is officially done – and we even broke our schedule with a Saturday bonus video about an equipment deal too good to ignore.

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we drop new training videos. Every Monday evening, you get this blog roundup. But when Aldi drops 30 lbs of kettlebells for $30? We’re not waiting until Monday.

This week’s theme: Form over force. Quality over quantity. Movement that matters.

From resistance band rows to Smart Bells squats to wooden mace work to budget kettlebell reviews – here’s what we published.

MONDAY: JC RESISTANCE BANDS STANDING ROWS (December 29)

We kicked off the week with JC Bands again – this time focusing on pulling movements instead of pressing. Tim demonstrated four standing row variations that train your back, shoulders, biceps, legs, and core as an integrated system.

The variations:

  • Standing Rows with Static Squat
  • Standing Rows with Static Squat (Alternating Arms)
  • Standing Rows with Squats
  • One-Legged Standing Rows

Why this matters:

Modern life involves a lot of forward posture. Driving. Desk work. Phones. Computers. Standing rows strengthen the muscles that pull your shoulders back, helping maintain healthy posture and reducing shoulder and neck pain.

This is compound movement training – your body working as an integrated system, not isolated muscle groups on machines. Because in real life, you don’t isolate. You coordinate.

This is our second JC Bands video – see our JC Bands Chest Press for the pushing complement to this pulling movement.

WEDNESDAY: SQUATS WITH SMART BELLS BY THINKFIT (December 31 – New Year’s Eve)

Perfect timing for New Year fitness goals: squats with Smart Bells by ThinkFit.

Remember – Smart Bells are NOT traditional dumbbells. They’re ergonomically designed with handles on either side for flowing movements rather than static lifting. This design emphasizes quality of movement over quantity of weight.

Why Smart Bells for squats:

The ergonomic design allows for natural hand positioning and flowing movement patterns. Unlike traditional dumbbells that can feel clunky during squats, Smart Bells move WITH your body, emphasizing proper form and control over maximum weight.

Our philosophy: Quality over quantity.

Squats aren’t about how heavy you can go. They’re about moving well, maintaining form, and building functional strength that serves your actual life.

Can you stand from a chair? Get off the floor? Carry groceries? That’s what matters.

Perfect for all ages and abilities – we train clients from 18 to over 100.

FRIDAY: WOODEN MACE SHOULDER ROTATION (January 2)

New Year, new movement pattern: wooden mace shoulder rotations using the Primal Flow mace.

This is a LIGHT wooden mace. That’s intentional. This video is about form over force.

Why wooden mace for shoulders:

The Primal Flow mace is lightweight by design, allowing you to focus on the circular motion, shoulder mechanics, and proper form. This isn’t about how much weight you can swing – it’s about training your rotator cuff, improving mobility, and moving with control.

Shoulder exercises aren’t about overpowering the movement. They’re about precision, control, and proper mechanics. Muscling through shoulder work is how injuries happen. Moving with intention is how strength builds.

Perfect for:

  • Rotator cuff strengthening
  • Shoulder mobility improvement
  • Injury prevention and rehab
  • Athletes needing shoulder health (throwing sports, swimming, martial arts)
  • Anyone with shoulder pain or stiffness
  • Learning proper mace technique before progressing to heavier maces
  • All ages and abilities

Primal movement, modern application:

Mace training dates back thousands of years to ancient warriors and wrestlers. Today, it’s experiencing a renaissance in functional fitness because it trains movement patterns that transfer to real life – rotation, stability, coordination, and shoulder resilience.

SATURDAY BONUS: ALDI KETTLEBELLS – $30 FOR 30 LBS (January 3)

We broke our Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule for this one.

Aldi dropped 30 lbs of kettlebells for $30 THIS WEEK – that’s $1 per pound, one of the best kettlebell deals we’ve seen. We had to tell you before they’re gone.

We put these through their paces at Mount Yonah Training to see if they’re worth grabbing.

The verdict: Watch the video for our honest review. Whether you’re building your home gym or adding to your training arsenal, here’s what you need to know.

THE PATTERN: FORM OVER FORCE

Look at this week’s equipment:

  1. JC Resistance Bands (pulling movements)
  2. Smart Bells by ThinkFit (squat quality)
  3. Primal Flow Wooden Mace (shoulder mechanics)
  4. Budget Kettlebells (accessible equipment)

Every single video emphasized the same principle: quality of movement over quantity of weight.

This isn’t about how much you can lift. It’s about how WELL you move. Proper form. Controlled motion. Intentional training.

Our philosophy stays consistent:

✓ Form over force
✓ Quality over quantity
✓ Movement that serves your actual life
✓ Equipment variety for different purposes
✓ Training appropriate for YOUR body
✓ Injury prevention as foundation
✓ Serving clients from 18 to over 100 years old
