It is a disgrace to grow old through sheer carelessness before seeing what manner of man you may become by developing your bodily strength and beauty to their highest limit – Socrates  (translation gratefully borrowed from the Perseus Project)

The Ancient Stoics considered great physical health a prerequisite to a sound mind and spirit.

It is also of no surprise that the Vedic system considers health a type of resource (artha) that is supposed to support our thriving life (dharma).

  • But how do we know where to draw the line when it comes to physical health?
