Lessons from Monday – Can’t Trust That Day

lessons from monday and the moon

Monday, Monday, can’t trust that day
Monday, Monday, sometimes it just turns out that way

This song came on on one of our old playlists today and put a huge smile to my face. A very favorite tune of mine from The Mamas & The Papas that taught me everything I needed to know about Mondays. 🙂

Have you ever wondered why the Monday blues are such a real thing? The day of the Moon tends to just feel heavy no matter what. As it turns out, it’s all in our head. Pun intended. 🙂 Yes, indeed, in the Vedic System, the Moon is associated with our mind.

The ever changing Moon governs our ever changing senses, emotions and thoughts. It should also come as no surprise to us that it rules the water. I guess the extreme tides every new moon and every full moon are enough evidence.

The natural question arises, so what, are our Mondays doomed forever?

Well, no, of course not. Knowledge is power when applied properly. We can make Mondays so much better for us and every one around us by staying aware of our emotions and always think before we speak. Also, remembering the association of the moon and the water, gives us one more unfair advantage. Lao Tzu said:

“Water is fluid, soft, and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong.”

Think of all the times in your life that you decided to be soft spoken, humble, and yielding.

Now, think of all the times in your life that you decided to be harsh, arrogant and rigid.

The choice is yours!
