In today’s day and age where scientists are mining asteroids and colonizing Mars, it seems odd that they cannot make up their mind when it comes to the effect of saturated fats on our health.
Here is yet another article / video out of Germany, labeling coconut oil as “poison”.
I wish scientists would study the cornerstone of all health systems, Raja Ayurveda. The reason is two-fold:
First, they would learn what wholesome food means. Second, they would be able to stay more grounded and focused through Raja Ayurveda practices.
The war against saturated fat officially started, in the US, in 1977 when the government publication “Dietary Goals in the United States” made a “diet in relation to heart health” hypothesis.
The paradox however is that there is no scientific evidence, anywhere, that demonstrates that saturated fat is bad for our health.
In fact the biggest, as in most expensive US study ever conducted, on 50,000 participants over a period of 8 years showed that a dietary intervention that reduced total fat intake by 10% and increased intakes of vegetables, fruits, and grains did not significantly reduce the risk of CHD, stroke, or CVD in postmenopausal women and achieved only modest effects on CVD risk factors, suggesting that more focused diet and lifestyle interventions may be needed to improve risk factors and reduce CVD risk.
Even worse, if a participant was to have heart disease, their risk would be increased by 26% when reducing saturated fat intake by 10% and increasing the intake of vegetables, fruits and grains. Bizarre!
Other than the myth of the saturated fat, there are some other critical points that the article from the Business Insider is trying to make. We break down everything for you in the video below.

00:00:00.060 –> 00:00:08.040
In today’s day and age where scientists
are mining asteroids and colonizing Mars
00:00:08.040 –> 00:00:16.080
it seems really odd that they cannot
make up their mind when it comes to the
00:00:16.080 –> 00:00:25.050
effect of saturated fats on our health.
Here is yet another article and video
00:00:25.050 –> 00:00:35.820
out of Germany labeling coconut oil as
poison. I just wish the scientists would
00:00:35.820 –> 00:00:42.390
study the cornerstone of all health
systems Raja
00:00:42.390 –> 00:00:50.399
Ayurveda. And the reason is twofold: First,
they would learn what wholesome food
00:00:50.399 –> 00:00:58.199
means, and second, they would be able to
stay more grounded and focused through
00:00:58.199 –> 00:01:07.860
Raja Ayurveda daily practices. The war
against saturated fat officially started
00:01:07.860 –> 00:01:18.960
in the US in 1977, with the government
publication “Dietary goals in the United
00:01:18.960 –> 00:01:29.700
States”, where they made a “diet in
relation to heart health” hypothesis. The
00:01:29.700 –> 00:01:37.850
paradox however is that there is no
scientific evidence anywhere that
00:01:37.850 –> 00:01:49.020
demonstrates that saturated fat is bad
for our health. In fact, the biggest, as in
00:01:49.020 –> 00:01:57.299
most expensive US study ever conducted
on 50,000 participants over a period of
00:01:57.299 –> 00:02:05.369
eight years, showed that a dietary
intervention that reduced the total fat
00:02:05.369 –> 00:02:12.790
intake by 10 percent and increased
intakes of vegetables, fruits,
00:02:12.790 –> 00:02:20.370
and grains, did not significantly reduce
the risk of coronary heart disease,
00:02:20.370 –> 00:02:31.049
stroke or cardiovascular disease in
postmenopausal women, and even worse, if a
00:02:31.049 –> 00:02:41.920
participant was to have heart disease,
the risk would be increased by 26% when
00:02:41.920 –> 00:02:49.180
reducing saturated fat intake by 10% and
increasing the intakes of vegetables,
00:02:49.180 –> 00:02:58.150
fruits and grains. Bizarre huh?
Other than the myth of the saturated fat
00:02:58.150 –> 00:03:03.700
there are a couple of other points that
the article from the Business Insider is
00:03:03.700 –> 00:03:15.790
trying to make. “Flaxseed oil is rich in
omega-3 fatty acids and is just as good
00:03:15.790 –> 00:03:23.290
for the body.”
Interesting. Ironically enough, an article
00:03:23.290 –> 00:03:29.260
out of Harvard University (the university
that the Business Insider article
00:03:29.260 –> 00:03:39.940
references) back in 2006, stated that
“flaxseed oil will give your diet a nice
00:03:39.940 –> 00:03:45.400
little mega 3 boost in the form of alpha
linoleic acid.
00:03:45.400 –> 00:03:52.530
You might try adding some to your salad
dressing but it’s a backup not a
00:03:52.530 –> 00:04:00.699
substitute for the omega-3s in fish and
fish oil because of the conversion
00:04:00.699 –> 00:04:11.379
factor.” Our body cannot easily convert
the ALA to the much desirable EPA and
00:04:11.379 –> 00:04:22.990
DHA omega-3 fatty acids. Next point. The
article reads: “Based on the fact that
00:04:22.990 –> 00:04:31.350
they contain a lot of unsaturated fatty
acids experts recommend olive or
00:04:31.350 –> 00:04:42.250
rapeseed oil as an alternative.” Wow.
I don’t know if the author is referring
00:04:42.250 –> 00:04:51.850
to canola oil that comes from rapeseed
or the actual rapeseed oil. Either way,
00:04:51.850 –> 00:05:02.160
there is a serious issue in both cases.
Rapeseed oil is a plant based oil
00:05:02.160 –> 00:05:10.140
extracted from the seeds of the rapeseed
plants. In recent years,
00:05:10.140 –> 00:05:17.980
scientific studies indicated that
rapeseed oil contains high levels of
00:05:17.980 –> 00:05:28.300
glucosinolates and erucic acid and
they both can be damaging to the human
00:05:28.300 –> 00:05:40.060
body. This is why in the 1970s canola was
created through plant crossbreeding by
00:05:40.060 –> 00:05:47.440
removing for the most part, not totally,
these two constituents, the glucosinolates
00:05:47.440 –> 00:05:53.650
and the erucic acid. So the newly
00:05:53.650 –> 00:06:06.580
developed plant was renamed canola, as in
Canadian oil. Would I eat canola oil? The
00:06:06.580 –> 00:06:12.510
question is, would I eat something that
comes from an industrial plant and
00:06:12.510 –> 00:06:20.650
involves a deodorizer, a degummer, a
petroleum derived solvent and a PhD in
00:06:20.650 –> 00:06:29.790
chemical engineering in order to
understand the process? My answer is no.
00:06:29.790 –> 00:06:39.760
Would I eat extra-virgin unrefined
coconut oil? Absolutely yes. Would I eat
00:06:39.760 –> 00:06:50.740
lard from pasture raised pigs? Definitely.
And last but not least, this article
00:06:50.740 –> 00:07:01.479
talks about the so-called superfoods as
in acai, chia seeds or matcha. What is
00:07:01.479 –> 00:07:10.960
really a superfood? Common sense says
that a super food should be nutrient
00:07:10.960 –> 00:07:16.740
dense, and devoid of anti nutrients and
heavy metals.
00:07:16.740 –> 00:07:24.700
None of these foods fits these
requirements. I will stick with the
00:07:24.700 –> 00:07:31.890
traditional super foods, liver from
grass-fed animals, and egg yolks from
00:07:31.890 –> 00:07:38.620
pasture raised
fowl. The bottom line is, when it comes to
00:07:38.620 –> 00:07:48.430
food we need to remember what Raja Ayurveda
teaches. Mother Earth gives us wholesome food
00:07:48.430 –> 00:07:57.250
in the form of minerals, plants and
animals. We do not need to genetically
00:07:57.250 –> 00:08:04.780
modify our food or chemically engineer
it. We are all unique, some foods will
00:08:04.780 –> 00:08:14.289
work for some of us differently than for
others. You decide what works for you. We
00:08:14.289 –> 00:08:25.229
need to respect mother earth’s wisdom
and always follow the path of least harm
00:08:25.229 –> 00:08:38.500
when we choose our food source. Why Raja
Ayurveda? The simple fact that it has worked
00:08:38.500 –> 00:08:48.430
for thousands of years. To learn more
about timeless Raja Ayurveda practices
